A Guide to Reading the Free Browser Game Catalogue
PlayAlready has two distinct parts: native Sudoku is playable on this site, while the GameDistribution directory contains publisher-listed metadata for games that are unavailable here. Directory links below open records, not playable games.
This guide compares the current 292 directory records across ten site categories. The observations come from the bundled catalogue data, not our own play tests. Read the notes in three passes: what progression is described, what canvas is listed, and which inputs are documented.
Read the described progression without guessing a duration
The supplied notes vary in detail. A short control line describes an input; a level objective describes a possible stopping point. Neither tells you how long play takes or whether progress can be saved.
Input-only notes. Dart Hero lists tapping to shoot. Hotshift lists holding to rise and releasing to fall. Fishing Dog lists tapping to change direction. These instructions do not establish round length or a reset point.
An explicit objective. Climb Up says to reach the flag at the top of each level to move on. Crystal Circuit describes clearing the queue to complete a level. Tiny Golf King mentions levels but its controls only say to use mouse or touch. The first two notes give more detail about completion, without establishing session duration.
Upgrades and collection. 67 Clicker and Goo Goo Gaga Clicker describe clicking and buying upgrades. Those notes do not establish saved progress. Endless, idle and arena labels alone do not prove that every mode has no ending; look for explicit objectives rather than treating a tag as a session plan.
Read canvas dimensions as metadata
Every directory record supplies a width and height. Of the 292 records, 237 list landscape canvases, 53 list portrait canvases, and 2 list square canvases: Bird Sort at 1024x1024 and Sweep Maze at 760x760. Here landscape means width exceeds height, portrait means height exceeds width, and square means they are equal.
The five most frequent supplied dimensions are:

These dimensions do not establish responsive layout, legibility, touch support, performance or device compatibility. They describe a listed canvas, not a tested screen requirement.
Separate documented inputs from tested support
Control notes can name specific keys, pointer actions or touch gestures. An omitted input is unknown, rather than proof that it cannot work.
Traffic Racing lists “WASD/Arrow keys”. Sprunki Space Challenge says “Arrow keys to move!” These instructions document keyboard bindings but do not confirm touch support.
Sweep Maze separately documents Arrow Keys or WASD for desktop and swiping for mobile. This is a more specific control note, not our verification that either path works. Because the GD games are unavailable here, these articles cannot supply an on-site compatibility test.
Categories and tags answer different questions
Each record has one site category. The ten category pages are Puzzle, Casual, Arcade, Action, Shooter, Racing, Sports, Adventure, Strategy and .IO. They are navigation groups, not rankings of difficulty, duration or quality.
Records can also have multiple tags. Tag pages are generated for labels attached to at least six records across the full directory. 1player, 3d, logic and relaxing group those supplied labels. A relaxing tag does not demonstrate a calming effect; the 2players tag does not verify multiplayer availability or its input setup.
The distinction matters when narrowing a list: a category gives you one broad shelf, while tags can overlap across shelves. Compare the description and instructions after filtering, and keep missing information visible rather than filling it with genre assumptions.
