Strategy Games: Decisions Without a Clock
Turn-based strategy lets you consider a move while the game waits. Other strategy games involve real-time defence or resource management, so the category label alone does not imply an untimed session.
The collection spans three traditions that feel different in the hand. Classic board games — chess, checkers, backgammon and their relatives — come with centuries of known theory and an opponent AI that will punish loose play. Card games trade perfect information for probability: you are playing the odds and the draw as much as the board. Resource and management titles give you an economy to grow and ask you to sequence your decisions well.
Some strategy listings document pointer controls. That does not prove identical behavior on a desktop, trackpad and phone, or establish a game's performance on older hardware.
Two-player local play deserves a mention here too. Board and card games were designed for a shared table long before they were digitised, and a browser tab on a laptop between two people reproduces that better than most genres manage.
